Drawings

Like most traditional painters, the first medium I ever used was a simple pencil on paper. According to my mother, I started drawing when I was just two and a half years old, right beside her easel as she worked on her watercolor still-life paintings. I’m sure what I produced at that age was merely a collection of scratches and joyful scribbles, but what I remember most vividly from those early years is always asking my mother to draw a picture of Wonder Woman for me. I would laugh uncontrollably with joy every time I watched her skillfully sketch out the iconic figure on the page. The laughter bubbled up involuntarily because I was so utterly thrilled by the process and the images coming to life before my eyes. All of the drawings featured here were created with colored pencil on toned paper or pastel board, allowing a shorthand to developing the characters that might become paintings.
